Before I start drawing, I always grid my paper, this helps to keep my drawings more even. Notice that the heart is on the lower bottom and it doesn't extend all the way out to the sides.  This will ensure that we have room for the other parts of the drawing at the top and the sides. 

Once I'm happy with the drawing, I went ahead and traced it with an extra fine permanent marker. This helps me paint neater and it also makes the piece look more detailed at the end. I Painted the background first in case I go into the other spaces, I can cover it up when I paint them. 

You can paint in any colors you like. Once I painted the whole thing, I traced the outlines one more time. This makes the piece look more finished and makes the colors pop!
